Super Bowl LII Sweat School
To kick off Super Bowl LII week, Gatorade hosted “Sweat School”, an immersive experience using sports science to help understand how the body performs in very, very cold and hot temperatures. A surprisingly excited media contingent (it was below 0) from FanRag Sports, Telemundo, STACK, DraftKings Live, Rivals.com and more arrived by school bus and were led through their curriculum by the Gatorade Sports Science Institute’s (GSSI) Dr. James Carter (Professor Carter) and former Bears defensive tackle, Spice Adams (Coach Adams).
To participate, the “students” ingested a core temperature pill the previous night allowing GSSI to determine their thermogenic expenditure. Readings were captured during the outdoor and indoor circuit training activities and were turned into personalized reports showing overall performance and hydration/fueling needs.
During and after the event, #GSweatSchool trended on Twitter, with media sharing photo and video updates about their experience and showing how Gatorade continues to lead in science-based sports performance.
